Honey Hunting in Nepal

This is my absolute favorite bee documentary available on the internet, one that involves a look at honey hunting in the lowlands of the Nepalese Himalaya. It shows the great lengths that local hunters go to harvesting honey from the combs of the giant Asian honeybee (Apis Dorsata Laboriosa) that hang from cliffs 200 feet in the air. Very, very cool! Youtube is the only place I can find this posted in it’s entirety, it’s not the greatest quality video, but fun none the less.

Also related, a quick video of BBC’s David Attenborough with Apis Dorsata Dorsata in Malayia. A little better quality. David’s wearing my petzl harness!
